Why does her composure crumble

As her path lays now unfurled?

What despair does she expect

Upon opening her wooden door?

What chores did she neglect

That her husband will beat her for?

What inquires will pelt her

While she rushes to make dinner?

Where can she take her shelter

From her sainted man turned sinner?

Where will she dry her tear

That silently rolls down her cheek?

How will she again hide her fear

Behind the veil of the meek?

And oh, why does she return

To a man that cannot grow?

What new lesson can she learn

That she does not already know?
