My New life in Oakland @ UC Berkeley

I've been away from my blog for quite a while (I've never been good at keeping anything journal-like.) Nevertheless, I'm back because I wrote something blog-like last night and I figured that this was the best place to put it. Enjoy!

Do you know what should be the most coveted ability in the universe? It's not perfect pitch, or an eidetic memory, or the ability to heal remarkably fast. It is more simple than that. It is the mere capacity to see beauty. And, I'm not talking about the beauty that is associated with super-models, or a new car. I mean that spark of sheer majesty that is inherent in all things around us. Everything from a cute girl smiling at you for no apparent reason to the pool of amazing colors that the sun fills the sky with simply by setting everyday. How in one simple moment and against all odds, your timing is just perfect enough to do something that makes you smile. To be able to watch a toddler see something so mundane and think it spectacular, and to momentarily put yourself back into the mind of that youngling so that you can remember why that thing that you've seen a hundred times without really looking is actually amazing. How a person that you have loved for twenty years can do that perfect, little thing that simultaneously reminds you why you fell in love with them in the first place and makes you forget that you ever did so that you can fall in love with them all over again. Sadly, this is an ability that is too often forgotten about in the world in which we live. But just for once, defy the convention, and have a beautiful day!
